Perhaps Gilbert and Sullivan’s best-beloved comic operetta, “The Pirates of Penzance,” replete with such favorites as the “Major-General’s Song,” will entertain audiences at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, and Saturday, Feb. 1, in the Recital Hall of Denison University’s Burke Hall (240 West Broadway).
The production is the result of the talents, creativity and hard work of the Singer’s Theatre Workshop, a class directed by Andrews-Smith. The workshop is one-of-a-kind classroom experience for the participating students. “Singer’s Theatre Workshop gives students a thorough grounding in operetta and musical theatre performing,” says Andrews-Smith. “We have students from all majors and with talents at all levels who learn so much about what they are capable of – and have a great time doing it.”
