About Us:

Birmingham Savoyards was formed in 1963 principally to perform the works of Gilbert & Sullivan, and today we are one of the few surviving and thriving “G&S” societies in the Midlands area.

We originally staged our main performances at the Theatre Centre in Islington Row, Birmingham, but when this was demolished in 1973, Savoyards moved to the Old Rep where we became the first amateur company to perform Gilbert & Sullivan on that famous old stage. Indeed, we still put on our annual production in this wonderfully atmospheric theatre each March.

As well as our annual G&S production, we also stage concerts throughout the year, where we sing a wide range of other music spanning the 20th century through to the present day. Through the performance of such music we support a number of charities, such as the National Federation of the Blind, as well as assisting local Churches and other organisations with their fund raising.

In addition to all the fun we have enjoying our music related activities, we also enjoy a number of social events throughout the year such as our annual barbecue and quiz evenings.

We are happy to welcome new members, so if you live in the Birmingham area and can sing in tune, please feel free to come along and give us a try. we would be delighted to hear from you. Further details can be found on our Membership page. Or you may simply like to join us as a supporter by becoming a Patron, details of which are also on our Membership page.

We also have sets of costumes for all G&S productions which we are able to hire out to other local societies.

For further information on any of the above, please take a look at our more detailed pages as you browse through our website. You ay also contact us at enquiries@birminghamsavoyards.org.uk or telephone 0121 353 1407.
