Charles Court Opera is a inventive chamber company, based in London, specialising in intimate performance. CCO has been described as one of the leading chamber companies taking opera and theatre into previously inaccessible places, and as leaders of the current reinvigoration of Gilbert and Sullivan in London, described as "the masters of G&S in small places". They have performed across the UK in venues ranging from pub theatres to concert halls, and have toured internationally to Spain, the USA, Ireland and France. They are well known for their legendary, alternative, and critically acclaimed 'Boutique Pantos', presenting a new production in London every Christmas.
In the 2017, highlights include a revival of their Iford Arts commissionĀ The Magic FluteĀ in London, and a brand new production of The Barber of Seville, commissioned by the Iford Arts Festival. For Christmas 2017, they present their next pantomime - King Tut - A Pyramid Panto.
In the 2015/16, highlights included their 9th 'boutique' panto, Mirror, Mirror: A Snow White Pantomime, at the King's Head Theatre in London, and their first production of Mozart's The Magic Flute at the Iford Arts Festival 2016. They then presented their 10th anniversary panto, Pinocchio.
Over the past 12 years CCO's operatic repertoire has included The Magic Flute, Ruddigore, The Mikado, HMS Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance, Iolanthe, one act operettas by Sullivan without Gilbert, including their "definitive production" of The Zoo, and operas including Britten's The Turn of the Screw, Puccini's La Boheme and Tosca, Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte and Impresario, Rimsky-Korsakov's Mozart and Salieri, and an evening of the Avant Garde including music by Ligeti, Maxwell Davies and Schoenberg, which was linked to an education project on the subject of composition.
