Fraser Valley Stage is a non-profit organization comprised of volunteer singers, actors, dancers, and other assorted artists and craft persons who share an interest in and commitment to live theatre. It grew out of the Valley Musical Theatre Guild which was established in 1969 from the Abbotsford Ladies Chorale. Some of our current members or others in their families were part of that original group. Our membership has grown to approximately 100 active members.
In the late 1980's the Guild re-registered as a Society within BC and Fraser Valley Stage Production Society became its banner. As we have continued to grow over the years thoughout the Fraser Valley, we went through a re-branding process and became Fraser Valley Stage. For over forty years, we have presented plays, Broadway musicals, pub nights, variety shows, dinner theatre, concerts and more.
For the past several years we have concentrated on the works of Gilbert and Sullivan and have been fortunate to have performed our locally acclaimed production of IOLANTHE at the 2001 International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in Buxton, England, returning to the festival with PRINCESS IDA in 2005. These were exciting and memorable trips for the cast and crew. Crossing the seas to Buxton provided the group with an adventurous traveling spirit and before they knew it, members were off to perform The MIKADO at the Waterford International Festival of Light Opera in Waterford, Ireland in October 2003.
