GSOV is the performing arm of The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Victoria which has been delighting audiences with its productions for over 87 years.
One of the longest running theatrical organisations in Australia, it has been hailed as one of our country’s leading light opera companies. GSOV performs not only in Melbourne and regional Victoria, and has also won awards on the international stage at the premier Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in the United Kingdom.

For over 80 years, the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Victoria has been delighting audiences with its productions of the operas of Gilbert and Sullivan and other works of light opera.

The performing arm of the Society, Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria, has been critically acclaimed as Australia’s leading light opera company and at the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in England in 2007, won several awards for its production of Patience.

TanTanTara!

The Society’s magazine, TanTanTara! is a professional-looking publication, produced four times a year and issued free to all members of the Society. It contains well-written and carefully researched articles about Gilbert and Sullivan, their world and their work, Gilbert and Sullivan in Australia, light opera in general. A separate section The Palace Peeper is for Society news.

Archive

The Archive is currently being updated and entered into the database of this new site. This is likely to take some time. This means that although the Society’s productions from 1936 to date now have a presence in our archive, it will be a little time before all of them are available for viewing on this site. Please take a look at the archive pages, as many of the shows have been transferred into our new database. If you would like any information about a show that is currently “offline”, please contact us, or check back regularly.

Library and Archive

We have a large collection of books, DVDs and CDs on the works of Gilbert, Sullivan, and their contemporaries donated largely by Bruce Doery and is available for members to borrow from.
