Following the demise of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. G&S Unlimited was formed by Andrew Whittaker, Ann-Louise Straker and the late Meston Reid. They performed with others including Michael Rayner and John Ayldon at concert venues all over the country and built up a reputation for bringing the very best of Gilbert and Sullivan to the concert stage. Following the acquisition of Grim's Dyke Hotel, Paul Follows the then General Manager, approached Andrew Whittaker and Grim's Dyke Opera Company was born.
The company now performs regularly at Grim's Dyke in the Music Room, fully costumed productions of the Operas. The Principals are supported by the Grim's Dyke Opera Chorus; and musical direction is under the baton of Stephen Kenna . The Company has performed in many other venues such as Brockett Hall, The Stables Wavenden and even given performances of the Mikado to herald the launch of a new Toyota car.
